The Museum of Monterey, in collaboration with the Monterey County Film Commission, proudly launch this series of groundbreaking vintage films. This premiere series is based around the events of 1967, which set the stage for the Monterey Pop Festival. Riots left many dead in their wake, and America's casualties in Vietnam reached their highest weekly losses. Communist China announced its possession of an H-bomb, and three American astronauts perished in a launch pad fire. Music and movies provided an escape from life's frightening reality. 1967 produced films that have proven to be classics; in some cases for their artistic content and in others for their bucking of the system. These nine films poignantly marked the year 1967. See the complete film schedule!
