Museum of Monterey at the Stanton Center

5 Custom House Plaza, Monterey

The Museum of Monterey (MoM) is within walking distance of major downtown Monterey hotels, the Conference Center and legendary Fisherman’s Wharf. With a full kitchen, easy access for caterers, decorators, musicians, photographers and convenient adjacent public parking, it’s the ideal venue for both corporate events and private parties. Choose a space at the Museum of Monterey that’s perfect for your needs:

The Atrium

  • A light and airy lobby space with two-story windows, the atrium offers gorgeous views of Monterey harbor, Fisherman’s Wharf and Custom House Plaza. The 1,600-square-foot spot also makes a grand dance floor, with an overhead bridge ideal for a jazz combo or DJ. An enclosed indoor/outdoor patio adds to the ambiance, providing the perfect space for food and beverage service.

The Theater

  • The Museum of Monterey’s state-of-the-art theater accommodates up to 100 guests and has the capacity for a wide array of audio-visual options. From Power Point to Blue Ray, slide shows to standard DVD or VHS presentations, the theater’s surround system and wide array of lighting components combine for the perfect business meeting, private movie screening or video-enhanced lecture. Rent the theater only or expand your event into the atrium and first- and second-floor galleries, each of which is ideal for an intimate cocktail reception or sit-down catered dinner before or after your presentation.

Plaza Galleries (North and South)

  • Showcasing the spectacular, fully functional rotating lens from the historic Point Sur Lighthouse, the Plaza Galleries feature sweeping views of the harbor, wharf and Custom House Plaza.  What an ideal spot for a strolling cocktail party, reception or seated dining experience.

Mountain View and Ocean View Galleries

  • Located on the second floor, the galleries house the permanent collection of model ships, period clothing, maritime artifacts and stunning artwork. Boasting commanding views of the wharf, harbor and Mount Toro, guests will also enjoy the private balcony overlooking Custom House Plaza.  A dance floor and historic corner bar will make your event complete.

Casa Serrano Adobe and Gardens

412 Pacific Street, Monterey

Built in 1845 of adobe and redwood, Casa Serrano Adobe and Gardens is one of Monterey’s oldest and most historic homes. An elegant setting, furnished with antiques and prized artwork from the Spanish, Mexican and early California periods, this is an opportunity to step back in time and experience early Monterey elegance at its finest.  Among the treasures are a fine piano that was shipped “around the Horn,” in the 19th century, a massive mahogany table that can seat 22, fine antique furniture, silver and objet d’artes.

The property offers a serene setting for a rehearsal dinner, wedding or reception,  small meeting, corporate or spiritual retreats, anniversary teas  and parties. A docent is included for all events to answer questions pertaining the provenance of the many fascinating pieces and artifacts on site.

Additionally, the venue also features two separate beautifully landscaped patios adjoining the Grande Salon, creating manageable traffic flow and easy street access. A large kitchen is available and is included in the rental fee.
